Saki & Bitches

Some days all fit like clockwork! I was lucky to visit Battersea Power Station in the morning and then off to Silwex House on Quaker Street in East London catching… ‘The Orchid and White Foxes’ exhibition by Saki & Bitches.. Not an easy place to find with just a few mins before it was due to close! Saki is from Japan and is a very sweet lady indeed. Her street art is very comic stroke erotic and brings a big smile on my face.. By chance I got to meet not just her; but Claude Crommelin a much respected photographer who was having a small sketch added to his outstanding book… “New Street Art” published this year and now sold out. One of the snaps show them talking in a collage.
For a small sum I came away with the artwork that you can see Saki signing for me! She used this as her draft for the large painting that I have blended into a broken mirror I saw in the hallway of the old warehouse on my way out. Please take time to visit the links for more info on Saki & The Bitches ~

Cheers….. Mitch

“Francisco de Pajaro”… The man from Spain seen just off Brick Lane on Bacon Street, bringing life to trash on the streets of East London next to a well loved Ben Slow tribute to Charlie Burns.~

Just loved snapping this shadow on the wall in the courtyard of the Kavana Veronika ~ There are some fine paintings by Lojze Kalinsek on display along the wall that also caught my eye in Kamnik, Slovenia. But that shadow was toooo good to miss ~ Enjoy…. Mitch

Pete’s Cafe

Pete’s Cafe..If you were passing by would you go in..? No I did not think you would. Maybe the metal security grill put you off. Or was it the abandoned kitchen sink next door? So what did I do? Well I was dying to go to the loo, hungry and needed a cup of tea.Too early for a beer in a pub so yes I went in. Deep down I new this type of cafe was what we in England call a greasy spoon cafe that is no longer the norm in our changing towns and cities. I’m not one for a fry up as a rule, but thought lets try the bacon, egg and chips and wash it down with a mug of tea.
I remember sitting down in a plastic chair looking at all the stuff on the walls and thinking I’m glad I paid a visit as this cafe will be long gone in a year or two at best. As for the food it was not great. There was no loo on site to use. Would I recommend this place? Not as a cafe in my top ten that’s for sure, but maybe as a place that if you had walked past you might have thought you would have loved to have been brave enough to have gone in. As for Pete……. Well make your own mind up on what he was thinking!!!
